We hope this message finds you well. Orientation week is here and we are so excited to welcome you to the law school! This message is to provide some final information about the schedule and how orientation will be conducted.
As we wrote last week, you are a member of Thurgood Marshall Inn Please see the Orientation 2020 website for Thurgood Marshall Inn's schedule. While we initially indicated we would use Zoom for orientation, we are now using a combination of two platforms (WebEx and Google Meet). For each event, there is either a direct link to the event or a password protected link to a breakout schedule. The password for all orientation events is gwlaw2020.
“BREAKOUT ROOMS” – at various points in the week you will be directed to a breakout rooms where you will be in smaller groups. For each, you will need either your Inn assignment (Thurgood Marshall Inn) or your Fundamentals of Lawyering section. Your Fundamentals of Lawyering section is FL46. As you will see in the schedule, you will join your Dean's Fellow (upper-class the teaching assistant assigned to your Fundamentals small section) or a Student Bar Association volunteer for various small-group sessions.
LAW SCHOOL EMAIL - We ask that you access each event using your @law.gwu.edu e-mail address. If you do not have this address, please contact the Law School IT department immediately at ITlawlaw [dot] gwu [dot] edu (ITlaw[at]law[dot]gwu[dot]edu).
IMPLICIT ASSOCIATION TESTS - A special part of this year’s programming is a presentation on unconscious bias by University Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement Caroline Laguerre-
TUITION INSURANCE – We want to take this opportunity to remind you about tuition insurance, especially in the midst of a public health pandemic. The law school partnered with A.W.G. Dewar Inc. to offer a tuition refund plan. Costing as little as $256.50 per semester based on coverage options, the plan protects your educational investment by reimbursing up to 75% of the covered educational costs in the event of a medical or mental health withdrawal. The plan significantly extends and enhances GW's published refund policy as stated in the University Bulletin. Information about the plan and coverage can be found here. The deadline for enrollment is August 24, 2020.
We look forward to greeting you this week!
