We hope this message finds you well. We are excited to officially welcome you to the Law School next week. We will have a complete Orientation schedule on the website later this week. Until then, here is some important information as well as some reminders from previous messages.
Covid-Related Information
As a reminder all GWU students, faculty, and staff must comply with the University’s Vaccine Policy in order to return to campus this fall. Effective Saturday, July 31, GW reinstated its indoor mask requirement for all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, in university-owned or -operated facilities. There is no requirement to socially distance, and masks may be lowered to eat and drink indoors.
All students should schedule their first Covid 19 test as soon as possible, ideally before the start of orientation. An appointment can be made on the Colonial Health website by clicking the Appointments button. For further information on the University's public health protocols and the COVID-19 vaccine requirement, visit coronavirus.gwu.edu.
GWorld Card
if you have already completed your application for your GWorld card, you can either pick it up from the GWorld Office in advance of orientation or we will have it for you when you arrive for check-in. Your GWorld card will be activated within approximately 4 hours of taking your Covid 19 test.
Academic Calendar and Booklist Update
The 2021-22 academic calendar for the law school can be found here. In addition, you can find a link to your booklist and first-day reading assignments on the Record’s Office Website under Fall 2021 1L Book List and First Day Reading Assignments or by searching the bookstore website.
Law School Email
Although we are currently using your persona e-mail, once you arrive to campus, it is very important that you check your law school email account (@law.gwu.edu). Announcements regarding classes and events are frequently sent there prior to the beginning of the semester. In addition, we highly recommend you forward your @gwu.edu email to your @law.gwu.edu email as messages from the University are sent to that account. Here are Gmail forwarding instructions.
Laptop Computer Requirements
All students are expected to have a laptop computer that meets the following specifications for Exam4, the exam software used to administer exams. Specifications can be found here. For questions about this, please contact [email protected].
Law School Affinity Groups
The law school has over 70 student-led organizations that serve as the backbone of the law school community. Chief among them are the many student affinity groups. If you are interested in outreach from one or more of our affinity groups, please complete the form here.
Dietary Restrictions
Meals will be provided at various times during orientation. If you have any dietary restrictions, please complete this form by Monday, August 16th to ensure your dietary restriction can be accommodated.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions!
