Clone of SBA Orientation Events

Welcome incoming students! We are so excited to get to welcome you to GW Law, even in these unprecedented circumstances. A very important part of orientation is the social schedule, as it’s a great way to get to know other incoming students. We have modified our social schedule to allow for compliance with D.C. and GWs’ health guidelines, and we have some great events planned for this coming week. Take a look and register for SBA orientation events below.

All events are subject to change based on the progression of COVID-19 and any changes in D.C. health guidelines. If you are feeling ill, may have been in contact with COVID-19, or have traveled from a high-risk state within the last two weeks, please do not come to the in-person events.

10 AM - 6PM, On the Hour: Campus Tours

Law School Admissions Office

Join upper-class students on a tour of the law school campus. Please only attend the Campus Tour you signed up for. If you haven’t signed up for a tour, or need to check which time slot you signed up
for, look here. Please meet outside of the Law School Admissions Office. The address is 700 20th St.
NW. Please bring a mask!

7 PM - 9:30 PM: Trivia

Kick-off Orientation by testing your knowledge on a wide range of topics while competing for prizes! Soft Drinks, Snacks, and Prizes will be provided. No need to bring anything but a mask!

10 AM - 11 AM: Wake Up, GW Law!

The Lounges

Come eat breakfast and socialize with your classmates! Please meet at the law school lounges. These are located right inside the law school. Please bring a mask! Bagels, cream cheese, and coffee will be provided!

2 PM - 4 PM: Games on the Plaza

Kogan Plaza

Meet at Kogan Plaza. Kogan Plaza is located at 2121 H Street, NW. Please bring water and wear athletic clothing. Games will include frisbee, cornhole, spikeball, ring toss, Kan Jam, and hula hoops.

5 PM - 8:00 PM: Tipsy Tuesday

LLC

Beer, wine, and pizza will be provided. Please bring your government issued ID. Alcohol will be available via the drink ticket system for individuals 21 and over with a valid, government issued ID.

10 AM - 12 PM: Academic Excellence

Come learn in-person about class preparation and how to brief a case! If you haven’t already, please complete this Google Form to attend.

2:30 PM - 4:30 PM: National Portrait Gallery

Please meet on the steps of the National Portrait Gallery at 2:30 pm. The steps are at the corner of 8th St NW and G St. NW. Walk back to campus to attend the Food Truck Festival afterwards!

5:30 PM - 8 PM: Food Truck Festival

University Yard

Meet at the University Yard. The Yard is located on H Street NW between 20th and 21st Street NW. There will be food trucks for dinner and food trucks for dessert, so please come hungry! There will be food for all eaters: vegans and vegetarians included! There will be live music by GW Law’s very own DJ, Charlie LaVine! Please bring your wallet (cash and credit card accepted).

7:30 PM - 8:30 PM: Monument Walk

Law School Admissions Office

Meet at the Law School Admissions Office. The address is 700 20th St. NW. Student guides will take you on a walk around the monuments. Wear bug spray if you need.

7 PM - 10 PM: Bar Review

Please bring your government issued ID and your wallet. Event is only 21+. The bars will be
offering food and drink specials. Alcohol will be available via the cash bar system for individuals
21 and over with a valid, government issued ID.

10:30 AM - 11:15 AM: Yoga

University Yard

Please meet at the University Yard. The Yard is located on H Street NW between 20th and 21st Street NW. Please bring a mat or towel and water and wear comfortable clothing.

11:00 AM - 1:00 AM: Mentor/Mentee Event

University Yard

Local bagels and coffee will be provided for the first 200 guests. Meet your mentor and receive valuable advice just before 1L starts! Please meet at the University Yard. The Yard is located on H Street NW between 20th and 21st Street NW.
